Vincentia High School Upgrades

The Minns Labor Government has unveiled designs for a major upgrade of Vincentia High School, which will deliver improved facilities and new state-of-the-art classrooms by Day 1, Term 1, 2027, making way for the removal of long-term demountables.

The upgrade is a Labor election commitment that will ensure local students have access to a world class public education in fit-for-purpose facilities following a decade of neglect under the Liberals and Nationals, who allowed demountables to become a permanent fixture.

As part of the upgrade, the school will receive a new two-storey building with 15 permanent classrooms, including three support classrooms, and bathroom amenities. The new building will replace 15 demountables, ensuring students have access to high-quality, fit-for-purpose learning spaces into the future.

The project will also include internal roadwork upgrades to improve safety and provide better on-site parking for student and visitors.

A drop-in information session will be held at the school today, Tuesday 11 March from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, which is an opportunity for the community to view the master plan and concept design, developed in consultation with school representatives.

The upgrade is part of the Minns Labor Government's work to rebuild public education, with record education funding in the 2024-25 Budget including $1.4 billion for new and upgraded schools in regional NSW.

This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world class public education.

NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car said:

“For too long under the Liberals and Nationals, families in regional NSW were promised the world, while little was delivered.

“Investing in regional communities is a top priority for this government, and this upgrade is a prime example of our commitment to ensuring our students, no matter where they live, have high-quality facilities to support their learning.

“I look forward to seeing the transformation that this project will bring to the school and the wider community.”

Member for South Coast Liza Butler said:

“It is fantastic to see the NSW Government acting on their commitment to make this much-needed upgrade to Vincentia High School a reality for our community.

“Ensuring regional schools receive the investment they deserve is vital for students, families, and the broader community, and I look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses.”

Vincentia High School Principal Ruth Winfield said:

“This is an exciting time for Vincentia High School, and we are thrilled to see plans for the upgrade taking shape.

“The addition of permanent classrooms will greatly enhance the learning and teaching experience for our students and staff, ensuring we have quality facilities to meet the needs of our school community.

“I look forward to seeing this project come to life and the lasting impact it will have in fostering student success and strengthening our school community for years to come.”
