STOP THE PRIVATISATION OF OUR COMMUNITY ASSETS
At its last meeting, Shoalhaven City Council decided to sell off our community assets and kick a youth and homeless service out onto the street.
Our community assets belong to us. And we use them to look after our most vulnerable.
Services like Nowra Youth Centre and Safe Shelter Shoalhaven are there because we have good public assets that can be used to help our community.
But now their future is at risk.
Shoalhaven City Council has voted to rezone and sell more than 20 properties in a $14 million land sell-off, including community land used by both services.
For more than 20 years, Nowra Youth Centre has provided a safe place and support for local young people. Safe Shelter Shoalhaven provides emergency accommodation for around 4,000 people experiencing homelessness each year and is the only service of its kind in Nowra.
These vital services shouldn’t pay the price for Council’s financial problems.
Once our community assets are privatised and sold off, we may never get them back.
Sign my petition to call on Shoalhaven City Council to stop the privatisation of our essential youth and homelessness services.
